How to Set a Leave Request Duration Type Default
A set of options exist to set the leave request duration type default to either Full Day, Home Shift, Shift or Hours on the Roster and Mobile/Web ESS.
The following example describes how to set up this default.
Roster Default Setting
1) From the Administration icon in the navigation menu, select Settings and then Preferences Administration.
2) Select Leaves, then click on Default Leave Request Duration Type.
3) First, select the Scope for which the default will be set.
4) From the drop down menu on the right, select the desired default for the leave request duration type that will apply on the Roster (when an admin or a scheduler manually assigns an employee to a leave).
Note: Here is the description of what each of these default settings mean:
- Full Day (leave duration is set to 24 hours, starting with predefined day start time for each specific OU)
- Home Shift (leave duration is set to employee's home shift duration, predefined via the first preference in employee's base schedule)
- Hours (leave duration is set to a specific hours/minutes duration, which is defined when assigning the leave on the Roster)
- Shift (leave duration is set to the duration of a specific shift, which is selected when assigning the leave on the Roster)
5) Click on the Save button to save the setting.
6) This is the result of this setting on the Roster page:
ESS Default Setting
1) From the Administration drop-down, select Preferences Administration, then Employee SS.
2) Click on Features and then Available Leave Request Duration Type.
3) First, select the Scope for which the default will be set.
4) From the drop down menu on the right, select the desired leave request duration type that will be available for employees to select from on the Mobile/Web ESS application and click the Plus 
button to add (more than one option can be selected for employees to select from in ESS).
Note: Here is the description of what each of these default settings mean:
- Full Day (leave duration is set to 24 hours, starting with predefined day start time for each specific OU)
- Home Shift (leave duration is set to employee's home shift duration, predefined via the first preference in employee's base schedule)
- Hours (leave duration is set to a specific hours/minutes duration, which is defined when requesting the leave via ESS)
- Shift (leave duration is set to the duration of a specific shift, which is selected when requesting the leave via ESS)
5) Click on the Save button to save the setting.
